Blog Barrage Part 2: Her One-Night Prince by Rebecca J. Clark Book Review

Genre: Adult Fiction (Contemporary Romance)

When Lydia St. Clair was in high school, she was teased and made fun of. The last thing she wants to do is show up to her high school reunion alone. She's not comfortable around most people, least of all men. So, she places an ad in hopes of finding a gay man who would be her date for the night.

Mitch thinks he's helping a buddy write an article by going on a blind date from the personal ads. What he doesn't know is his buddy is playing a prank on him and he'll be meeting Lydia, who thinks he's gay. He doesn't tell her the truth because he doesn't want to embarrass her, plus he doesn't think he'll ever see her again. Before he knows it, he finds himself helping Lydia with her style and meeting men. Mitch is afraid she'll hate him forever once she finds out the truth.

Lydia St. Clair has many insecurities that have stemmed from how people treated her in high school. She also cares for her father who is unable to care for himself after a bad accident. She has let these thing run her life and keep her in a safe little bubble, preventing her from making friendships and finding love. It was fun watching Lydia and Mitch's friendship grow. The book had many funny moments, usually revolving around Lydia's father, who was my favorite character. I loved his attitude and he brought everything in the story together. Even though there is a touch of naughtiness, the story has an air of innocence. Her One-Night Prince is the perfect, care free weekend read that lets you kick back and enter the world of Lydia and Mitch.

  2. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The writing was good and the story held my interest. My heart ached for Lydia and Mitch was such an honorable guy. The ending was predictable, but sweet none the less. A nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
